I was born and brought up in Barbados, I have travelled a little in my time but i always come home to Barbados, it's where I feel most alive, the place, the people and the food all make me who and what I am. Describe your cultural background: the different cultural influences on you when you were growing up. How have they shaped who you are now?: Barbados is a place that has a lot of culture, we a generally regarded as being laid back and easy going, which is true for the most part. How do you discover more about (or keep up to date with) your culture? For example: online forums, newspapers, magazines etc.: My culture is all around me every single day and being such a small Island there is always something to remind me of how unique my culture is, the food, the pace of life and of course the weather, which makes the Island one of the most beautiful places in the world. What practices or events do you take part in that are part of your culture? For example: services, meetings etc.: Services, well that leads me straight in to the church, of which I am a willing member, my religion and my culture are equally important as each other and like my religion and my culture, I treat them with love and respect and welcome the things they provide me with on a daily basis. |
