What parts of your everyday life reflect your culture? For example: the clothes you wear, the food you eat, the music you listen to etc.:

My culture is reflected in everything I say and everything I do. I am in the constant pursuit of what taoists refer to as the three jewels: Compassion, humility and moderation. They provide a platform of open communication from which appreciation, respect and understanding can be achieved.

"The journey is the reward"

What practices or events do you take part in that are part of your culture? For example: services, meetings etc.:

Taoism asks that each person focuses on the world around him or her in order to understand the inner harmonies of the universe. It is a system heavily focused on meditation and contemplation. The Tao surrounds everyone, it is a part of the universe and every living thing within it.

I practice the art of wu wei, action through inaction. This does not mean that I wait for everything to be handed to me on a plate, on the contrary, it is the practice of minimal action, particularly violent action. It is the practice of going against the stream not by struggling against it and thrashing about, but by standing still and letting the stream do the work; In essence working alongside the forces and energy around you.

"No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see".

How do the answers above combine to create your culture? For example: describe yourself as though you were talking to a stranger from a different culture, or describe a typical day or week for you.:

The Taoist takes his time to consider and see as far ahead as possible before he acts, and if mistakes are made, he will address them with the resolve to foresee better in the future.

As long as there are people there will always be the Tao, and as long as the Tao exists, there will be people who struggle to understand it.

"All difficult things have their origin in that which is easy, and great things in that which is small".

How do you discover more about (or keep up to date with) your culture? For example: online forums, newspapers, magazines etc.:

Try these for now but remember, absorb what is useful and discard that which is not.

Describe your cultural background: the different cultural influences on you when you were growing up. How have they shaped who you are now?:

My cultural background was a reflection of the Tao, my mothers teaching encouraged me to undertake practices and training that embraced the Tao, although she never spoke of it by name.

"It is often said that the best place to hide something is in plain view"

religion: I respect them all.

About me

The best way for me to describe myself is to identify myself as a Taoist

For me Taoism: "Way" is not a religion, nor a philosophy. It is simple a way of life. Find your peace within.
